Over 40 colleges and universities came to Bakersfield College to give students the opportunity to talk to representatives of the many colleges about admission, housing, financial aid opportunities, degree programs, and more.
The event was held at the Renegade Events Center (Campus Center, 3rd Floor), here at Bakersfield College on Sept. 9th.
Students were able to have one on one conversations that many wouldn’t be that easily accessible to students.
Bakersfield College “BC Transfer Pathways” hosts this event every year to be able to give students here at Bakersfield College transfer opportunities that can take them beyond here at Kern County.
The room was filled with eager students to hopefully transfer from junior college onto a university to pursue their education further.
Schools such as UC Merced were present to give much insight into what to expect if wanting to transfer there. Jorge Cruz, an Admissions Transfer Advisor from UC Merced states students should do research on academic programs, research opportunities, and be excited for a new development of a $300 million Medical Education Building which will be done in Fall 2026.
BC transfer pathways hosts this event and Transfer Pathway Counselor, Rene Deniz, states this event is so important to be able to, “provide internalized place for students” and to connect with universities, promote transfer; especially to students who may not always have transportation to do so. He also stated that it gives the opportunity to explore different options and begin transfer.
Many other programs at Bakersfield College were also there in support to help students with any needs that can be met here on campus now such as BC Amend, Industrial Automation, and others in attendance.
