Roseanne Park, better known as Rosé, is a member of the international sensation K-Pop group BLACKPINK.
Born in New Zealand and moved to Australia when she was eight, Rosé trained under YG Entertainment for four years until she debuted alongside Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo in 2016
BLACKPINK has achieved many accolades in their seven years together. Their hit song “DDU-DU DDU-DU” has the most views for a K-pop group, with a whopping 2.1 billion views. They were the first ever K-Pop girl group to perform at Coachella in 2019 and would later be personally invited back to headline the festival four years later.
In 2021, Rosé made her solo debut with “R.” The single album featured two songs. Though BLACKPINK is known for hard-hitting beats and sassy tongue-and-cheek lyrics, Rosé strays from this throughout her solo work. “Gone” is a soft rock/indie pop record that is about reminiscing on past heartbreak and the fear of being lonely. It features a soft electric guitar melody and a beautiful chorus. Though the song is quite simple, it’s still very dynamic and personal.
The song that marked Rosé solo debut is her lead single, “On the Ground.” The song is electropop and pop rock inspired. “On the Ground” focuses on the struggles of finding the meaning and purpose of life. Rosé said in an interview with YouTube RELEASED, “You kind of forget to take care of what actually matters to you most, and it’s just a song that says everything we need is already within us.”
Rosé has seen great success as a solo artist. She spoke at a mental health awareness conference hosted by First Lady Jill Biden. She, along with the other members of BLACKPINK were honored by Prince Charles III as honorary members of the Order of the British Empire following the groups’ advocation against climate change.
BLACKPINK is seemingly all going their separate ways as the other members have all started their own entertainment labels to venture into continuing their solo work. Rosé has teased a new song via Instagram Channels and is gearing up to release her own full-length solo album.
