I had never experienced beer splattering against my shirt until I went to the Coyote Ugly bar in Las Vegas. There, one of the beautiful women dancing on the bar flung a cup of the alcoholic beverage from the stage.
When I turned 21 a couple of weeks ago, I decided to take a road trip to Vegas with one of my friends, who had also recently turned 21.
After securing a hotel room, my friend and I decided to go to Coyote Ugly at the New York, New York Hotel & Casino. Everyone was crammed inside a room roughly the size of BC’s Fireside Room, dancing and drinking to their hearts’ content. I myself opted for just one Budweiser.
By no means am I a heavy drinker, but my friend drank much more than I did on this trip, which made it all the more interesting. It seemed like the more he drank, the more he desired to gamble.
Fortunately for him, he didn’t bring more money, because he probably would have lost more than the $150 he wound up gambling away.
At every club we went to, he had some heavy drink, such as Vodka. Or he drank one I had never heard of, an Adios. I couldn’t quite remember what the bartender put in my friend’s Adios, so I thought I would look it up at webtender.com. It consists of vodka, gin, white rum, blue curacao, sour mix and 7up.
Unfortunately, though, I couldn’t get in to the one club I wanted to go to, Studio 54, located in the MGM Grand. There was a sign posted outside the door that said, “Dress code enforced. No T-shirts or tennis shoes,” and there I was standing there with a T-shirt and tennis shoes. So that will have to wait until next time when I bring my more spiffy clothing.
My best experience was going to the top of the Stratosphere, the tallest building west of the Mississippi. Yeah, I know, I’m lame.
The elevator traveled to the top at roughly 20 mph. At the top, there was an outside viewing deck where you can view the whole city.
One would think most of the money spent on the trip would have been gambling, but that would be way off. Most of the money I spent on this trip was on fuel and food. Overall, on gambling, I lost less than $100 mostly on slots and blackjack.
There was definitely not enough time, though, in roughly 24 hours or so to ultimately experience the best of Vegas, which are the shows.
There were a few shows I wished I had time to go to, such as The Blue Man Group at The Luxor and comedian Rita Rudner at New York, New York.
I would not recommend going to Vegas on a whim. Plan ahead to fully enjoy your experience.
