Bakersfield College students and staff were greeted by record storms as they returned to school. According to data gathered from the National Weather Service, over .80 inches of rain fell during the first week of school slowing traffic, flooding streets and forcing students to search for cover in attempts to avoid getting wet.
The weather is expected to remain cloudy throughout the week with showers continuing in early February according to forecasts from the National Weather Service.
Several students such as Charli Lozano, business administration major, reported that the storm had not interfered with their first week but that they did have to do things such as leave home earlier and drive more cautiously. Other students, such as Kaiyla Stoddard, said that the storm had a more calming effect, making it hard for them to wake up in the morning.
