While Bakersfield College is getting prepared to host Dr. Jane Goodall, a world-renowned primatologist and anthropologist, the Kern County Museum is planning a reception to complement the event, which will take place prior to the lecture on April 1.
A Reception with Dr. Jane Goodall, presented by the Kern County Museum Foundation, will be an hour-long event, beginning at 5 p.m. Following the dinner reception, the lecture will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Bakersfield College gymnasium.
Goodall, whose work with primates has been considered revolutionary by many in the science field, will speak about her groundbreaking work, along with other topics, according to Kate Moreland, an anthropology professor at Bakersfield College. “Some people are going to be attracted to her research and her work, some people might be into her life and her reflections of her life, and some will be into her reflections on science,” Moreland said. “There’s going to be something for everybody,” she said.
Goodall will also be speaking about her new book, which will be available at the event.
Tickets can be purchased at the business services window at Bakersfield College. Guests have the option of purchasing a general admission ticket for the lecture only for $15 each, a ticket for only the reception for $25 each, or a ticket for both events for $40 per ticket. People also have the option of reserving a table for up to eight guests for the reception, including tickets to the lecture, for $500 per table.
