September 14, 2020
Videogame company Ubisoft held their virtual Ubisoft Forward event on Sept. 10th to showcase their next year of game releases.
The event started with a trailer for “Immortals Fenyx Rising”, which is a third-person open-world role-playing game set in Greek mythology.
“It’s a very narrative-driven game but it’s also very lighthearted and stylized and very comedic, and I feel like that’s where we get to shine as cinematic designers,” Lead Cinematic Designer Michelle Plourde said.
“Immortal Fenyx Rising” is set to be released on Dec. 3rd on stadia.
This was followed by the very first game to be remastered by Ubisoft “Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake”.
“People love this game, it has put a mark in everyone’s heart and now what we are going to do is we are going to bring it back because people still have that nostalgic feeling, people want to play that game,” Senior Producer Annu Koul said
“Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake” is set to be released Jan. 21st, 2021.
Next was a trailer for “Hyperscape”, Ubisoft’s battle royale game, and its new turbo mode.
The next announcement was for the 2021 “Rainbow 6 Siege” World Cup. The world cup is the very first international Esports tournament for “Rainbow 6 Siege” with over 45 countries competing in the qualifiers.
For domestic “Rainbow 6 Siege” players, the new season was released the day of Ubisoft Forwards, which added the new character Sam “Zero” Fisher, the main character for the “Splinter Cell” game series.
It was also announced that console players will receive a free upgrade featuring 4K graphics and 120 FPS for the next generation of consoles released later this year.
“Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game Complete Edition” will be available for the 2020 holiday season
Next, it was announced that London Based Musician Stormzy will appear and give the player a mission in the new “Watch Dogs: Legion”.
“Watch Dogs: Legion” is set in a dystopian London. The game does not feature the main protagonist, instead, it showcases a new recruiting system that will allow you to recruit almost any background character and use them as a playable character. This game is set to be released on Oct. 29th, 2020
Lathieeshe Thillainathan, live producer of “Watch Dogs: Legion”, announced that a character from previous watchdogs’ games Aiden Peirce will make his return. He will be a fully playable character with his own story arc.
Lastly, Charlotte Dubois, senior community developer, announced the first new Ubisoft title “Riders Republic”. “Riders Republic is a mass multiplayer where you enjoy extreme sports outdoors together with your friends and the community,” said Dubois
In order to make the terrain, Creative Director Igor Manceau said that they wanted to depict natural places and they wanted to go for the biggest, most impressive natural places.
So, they decided to go to the U.S. National Parks and stitched together seven regions in a way that feels natural but each of them was used with GPS data so everything you have seen is real.
“Riders Republic” is an extreme sports wonderland were the player can use anything from a BMX bike to Jetpacks and is set to be released on Feb. 25th, 2021.
