Bakersfield College (BC) Education and Career Education departments organized the first-ever Leaders and Educators of Tomorrow’s Student (L.E.T.S) Teach Expo on Mar. 19.
This event was organized with the goal that child development and education majors’ students can learn more about their careers and the different employers who can help them. There are also several universities with which they can talk and learn about the programs they offer so that they can know which university to transfer to after BC.
“We organize this type of event every semester, although this semester we did it a little differently because it was a fair and it is always done as a conference” Jasmine Guitierrez Development Specialist.
At this event, students could also create meaningful connections in their future careers and learn more about how they can develop in their careers and explore potential career opportunities.
On this occasion, many people from different organizations attended the event and were able to provide information about the many opportunities that they have which include; part-time jobs so that students can grow in the educational environment, as well as the different organizations for work throughout the year that suit school schedules.
The universities that were also present at this event, were the University of La Verde (ULV), California State University Bakersfield (CSUB), and Grand Canyon University (GCU), which provided valuable information to the students and explained what the next step could be after Bakersfield College (BC).
Students at this event also had the opportunity to try VR Headsets, a virtual reality experience that helps students have an experience of what their careers will be like in the future and know how to react in different situations.
“Virtual reality headsets are really cool, I like them, and I think it is a great experience for students to also see what happens in the real world.” Jonny Márquez of Elevo Learning said.
