“Celebration” with the Kern County Fair it is back. R&B group Kool & The Gang opened at the fair Sept. 18 with a live performance. This performance was held on the Budweiser Pavilion stage where more artists will be performing on like Reggae artist, Shaggy, and rapper E-40. There are also more stages around the fair where performers will be on throughout the day. All concerts are free with your admission into the fair.
Adult admission into the fair is $15, children 6-12 are $6 and 5 & under are free, Senior admission (62+) is $10, Military are free with Military ID. Parking is $10.
There are new attractions at the fair like Stingray Encounter, Sea Lion Splash, and Dinosaur Expedition which is an extra $8 to enter. There is free entertainment to see like the farm animals, duck and pig race, all star stunt dog challenge, the magic Bean, and kids pedal tractor pull. There are competitive exhibits, auctions, and contests to see. There will be rodeos and monster truck shows that will be there but require additional ticket purchasing to see.
The weather was perfect on opening week, it was in the 80’s.Many carnival attraction rides are up and running. The wristbands weekdays are $37, then on the weekends are $42. There are tickets and fast passes available for purchase as well.
There are many vendors around the fair and in buildings 1 and 2. Many booths that are full of information. Mac’s Patio and Mary’s Ice Cream are two vendors that have been at the Kern County Fair since 1952 but will be missing out on this year. They will be replaced by Chicken Man which will be selling hot chicken sandwiches. Bakersfield resident Karen Saldana has been visiting the fair for quite some time and Saldana said, “Although two popular vendors are missing out this year it still feels the same, I had a great time”.
