A mental health event for all in the community on Oct. 5 at BC. The Opening Ceremony began with a 2K Walk and more to follow.
The event day activities included guest speakers, VIPs, and personal stories. Along with J2 & the Bizzness Band, and special presentations which were led by presentations & dancers. Followed by lots of mini workshops all around the event, along with setup with booths, a resource fair, and 50/50 Raffle. The event had lots of people who came out together in support of mental health. Many participants took part in the walk and raised fundraised money.
The organization NAMI which stands for “National Allowance on Mental Illness,” the host had many booths out there in support and providing many resources and information for those in need. Here at Bakersfield College, they have their club where they meet and discuss further subjects. All services provided by them come with no out-of-pocket cost.
Sharon Woolfolk the person who oversees the event had a great turnout with the help of many others. Woolfolk’s goal is to “reach many people out there in need of support and help”. Many came out to support today’s event to celebrate & follow with change.

Resources provided by AEGIS were free, including Narcan nasal spray treatment in case of an opioid overdose. Recovery is possible with the right help and all these places have those necessary resources. Take the next step in your mental health wellness.
Lots of remarkable things happening in the awareness of mental health. The whole purpose is to create a positive approach and encourage people to get the help they need. Many resources are provided within the community. If you are struggling reach out to fellow services and they can help with the beginning process.
