There are no tricks here at BC but fun & candy. A Safe Halloween event took place at BC on Oct.25. This event was part of the 3rd Annual Domestic Violence Awareness on Healthy Relationships. BC Student Life organized the event for the community.
There was a great turnout with many families that showed up. There were great costumes and lots of candy along the way. Many BC clubs attended and great decorations with many BC club decorated their vehicles to match the holiday spirit. One of the clubs at BC called NAMI dressed up as characters from the “Inside Out 2 “movie. Many BC clubs attended with members dress in costumes. These included ASL Club, Criminology Club, Pokémon Club, SAGA, and Environmental.Then midway through, there was action with a costume contests. One of the winners for the adult category was the “Minecraft the Creeper.”
This event was part of domestic violence awareness month October. Domestic violence is any form of abuse (physical, emotional, verbal) involving an intimate relationship with a partner. Some resources that were provided there were to help anyone in need of assistance from the Open Door Network anyone has been impacted, For those in need, the Kern County Family Justice Center provides services. Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance offers free civil legal services to those in need. Kern Medical Hospital is open to those seeking care. For those who are victims, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is free & confidential 1-800-799 Safe (7233). There is also the 988 Suicide & Crisis lifeline, which offers free counseling.
Remember there are many safety tips for those on Halloween night to follow and avoid dangerous incidents. Be aware and alert around the area. Be cautious of candy that could hold drugs. Safer options are to attend Halloween trunk or treat organized events. Use glow sticks to be recognized by people & drivers.Remember to always have fun, but stay safe.
