Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR latest album, “$ome $exy $ongs 4 U” was released on Feb. 14, 2025, with a total of 21 songs. Compared to what he has put out from his last couple of albums which has been a lot of hip hop/rap. This time he brought R&B/soul which hasn’t been in his latest albums.
The album was a good reset for Drake to get back into his R&B flow. With albums like “Her Loss” and “Certified Lover Boy” that he came out with these past few years that for me personally were fantastic. This album brings a very different vibe with many versatile songs that you could play anywhere like at a party or even on car rides or just chilling in your room during the day or night. I would say a lot of songs are good personally such as, Gimme a Hug, Nokia, and Something about you are my top 3.
I hope that he comes out with a solo R&B album because PARTYNEXTDOOR was underwhelming in the album. I had high expectations with him being in the album and it wasn’t a success. Once the album starts to marinate and get to listen to it more it will be exciting to see what other songs become my favorite.
With every album it requires you to listen to it a few other times so you could feel the songs more and understand the lyrics better. Overtime the album is going to age well especially once summer comes around a lot of songs are going to be played all throughout.
One thing I did notice is that Drake lyrics in this album are like a lot of other albums, but it works because they are catchy. His voice doesn’t go with the flow, if it was just Drake, it would still be a hit.
Overall, the album is easy to listen to most songs are playable from top to bottom. People should go ahead and listen to and see what they think and offer different opinions.
