What’s nicer than laying on the beach in beautiful Santa Barbara in perfect 85 degree weather on a Sunday afternoon? How about only having to drive two miles to get to the Godsmack show when you’re done soaking up the sun.
Godsmack played a sold out show at the Santa Barbara Bowl Sunday night to support their new album “Faceless” and brought along opening act Breaking Benjamin.
Godsmack got their set started with the first single released off their new album “Straight Out Of Line” and it didn’t take long for the mosh pit go into full swing in the center of the crowd. They blazed through song after song with only short breaks for swigs off water bottles which they also passed out to members of the front row audience who looked like they could use some refreshing. Their encore was made up of an acoustic rendition of “Serenity” followed by “I Stand Alone,” their hit song from “The Scorpion King” soundtrack.
One highlight of the show came when two scantly clad Egyptian Princess’ rose on hydraulic lifts during their hit song “Voodoo.” The girls belly-danced through the entire song which made for a great visual effect.
Through the show, Lead-singer Sully Erna kept the crowd enthused by coaxing them into singing along whenever the band played their more popular songs like “Keep Away” and the title track off their last album “Awake.”
Opening act Breaking Benjamin also put on an impressive set until Godsmack’s roadies removed their equipment during the last song… while they were still playing.
