At 10:34 p.m. Pacific standard time, a massive 8.8 earthquake struck 70 miles NNE of Concepcion, Chile’s second largest city.
The earthquake was felt as far away as Sao Paulo, Brazil or 1,783 miles.
The United States Geological Survey has issued tsunami warnings that indicate a four foot tsunami was generated and could affect Chilean coastal cities.
No further information is available at this time from the USGS and attempts to reach the Chilean government have been unsuccessful.
