Governor Jerry Brown spoke at Bakersfield College in support of Proposition 30.
He said that support of the proposition goes beyond politics as usual.
“This is not about elected officials or politicians or Sacramento or Washington,” he said. “It’s about you, the students of California. It’s about families. It’s about teachers. It’s about California having the educational opportunity that built this state in the first place.”
Brown wants voters to know that the choice is simple as support school with money and not supporting schools with money.
“This is second grade arithmetic, billions into the schools or billions out of the schools,” he said. “30 there is no compromise. We’re talking about kindergarten, first grade, second grade, right up to senior year, and then community colleges and then state colleges and the UC system.”
Brown asked California’s voters some pointed questions about support of our education.
“This is really a stark question here, are you for the schools? Do you want to put money in?” he said. “Or do you want to ask those people who make millions or billions to give a little back?”
