Construction on the Memorial Stadium will bring new upgrades to BC

Bakersfield College Memorial Stadium is currently under construction as part of the Measure J bill. The stadium will be divided into two separate phases targeting different features of the building.
“During the first phase of the project, both the track and the turf in the Memorial Stadium will be replaced. The football field turf will be converted to artificial turf,” Program Manager for Community Relations Tamara Baker said.
Phase two will be focusing on the cosmetic improvements for the stadium. There will be new restrooms, concessions stands, and the press box will be up to current codes. The scoreboard, the PA system, and field lighting will also be

The construction of Memorial Stadium will not affect the upcoming football season.
Because of the current construction, the annual BC commencement will be at the Rabobank Arena.
“This venue is indoors, so an exciting light show has been scheduled to wow the crowd in lieu of fireworks. The ceremony will continue its tradition of grandeur and honoring our graduates in this new venue,” Baker said.
Both phases of the Memorial Stadium is scheduled to for completion in September 2020.
