Bakersfield College Interim President, Steve Watkin, wants to get to know BC students on campus. That’s why he invites you to have a chat with him during lunch.
“I want people to remember that BC is a community college, and we are the community’s college. And so, we are here for the community by supporting students and their education.” said President Watkin.
He continued, “Bakersfield College is here for every student. Whether you are not sure about what you want to do or maybe you did not do that well in high school. We are there for that one student, you don’t have to be an ‘A’ student, you may just have barely got out of high school. We can help you. That’s the role of a community college.”
President Watkin’s enthusiastic approach stems from over 30 years of outreach. He has served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management at KCCD and was the Executive Director of Outreach for BC for 9 years before being appointed as Bakersfield College Interim President, last May.
President Watkin looks forward to connecting with BC students alternating every Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can find President Watkin in the BC Cafeteria. He will next be meeting with students on September 27.
