BC’s Planetarium will host showing of “MARS One Thousand One,” a futuristic travel simulation, on Thursday, Sept. 21. It’s going to be out of this world.
The journey to Mars starts at 7:30 p.m., but don’t worry, all guests will return from the projected expedition safely by 9 p.m.
According to Professor Nick Strobel, the host of the event, “The show will present the beauty of our universe.”
The experience will also demonstrate “the wonderful creativity of humans to solve big problems by working together” to break past the boundaries that withhold the new discoveries waiting to be uncovered.
He hopes that his virtual planetary space flight presentation will sell out, and he wants attendees to “leave the show feeling optimistic and uplifted.”
Strobel has organized and planned events scheduled at the William M Thomas Planetarium every semester and described the place as “the Crown Jewels of Bakersfield College” due to visitors’ praise.
The attendees of this galactic event will “learn what’s up in the evening sky” with the planetarium’s star projector and “learn what challenges a crew traveling to and exploring Mars will have to overcome.”
The viewers of the projected presentation will also experience the beauty of the vast space and journey to the Red Planet, Mars. As further explained by Strobel, they will also learn “why it is a worthwhile, exciting adventure to undertake.”
The tickets are sold online: $8 for adults, $6 for children and seniors. The Planetarium is located in the MS building, room 112, on the second floor. The doors will be open 30 minutes before the show begins to let guests in and find seats. Don’t miss out on the chance to encounter the astronomical “MARS One Thousand One” virtual experience.
