The Humanities building at Bakersfield College has been the subject of ongoing construction for the past year. With construction ending, this could be a positive turnaround for students and professors. History Professor Olivia Garcia states that “last semester was a bit challenging due to classroom windows being replaced and also affecting office hours with students,” nevertheless she was able to adjust. This semester seems to be a much better experience for Professor Garcia because her windows have been replaced and now she can peacefully resume office hours.
Professor Garcia also states, “this semester is actually a lot smoother, even though they are still working on the blinds.” Garcia explains further, “I am wondering how construction is affecting other areas like the LA building as I know there is work being done over there.” BC student, Nasleigh Gonsalez also says, “As a student, I am so excited the Humanities building is done! I am loving the new look and more modern feel it brings to campus.” She also says, “With construction being done, we can now look forward to more spaces to sit, study and relax.“
The Humanities’ new reconstruction can bring a refreshing, new perspective to Bakersfield College’s campus. This will be a positive outcome for students and professors. Work trucks have vanished, taped-up windows have been completed, and the noises of drills and locked entrance doors seem to be done. With a new semester starting and the Humanities building being revamped, this can bring a more modern look to Bakersfield College.
