BC students were given the opportunity to take the next step into their college education with a transfer day.
The event was also an open house for the International Student Center. It was hosted by Lizzette Madrigal, a program manager in the transfer pathways department on Tuesday Feb. 20 from 11a.m -3p.m. The event was located in the new Transfer Path and International Student Service Center. It gave our BC students and faculty the chance to check out the new location. The area is over 1,500 square feet with resources provided such as counseling to steward our fellow international renegades and those looking to transfer.
According to Debi Anderson, a faculty manager of the International Student Services, “We have sixty-nine students who are international but in the past up to one hundred”. International students are not neglected at BC with resources available to them. These two centers are combined giving it a multi-purpose use.
This event allowed students to get connected through personal direct information from fellow staff of these various colleges such as CSU Channel, University of LA Verne and CSUB. They had booths set up with free trinkets representing their individual colleges like key chains, pens and stickers. As well as a free goodie bag given out to each student who attended. The event was well organized with multiple BC staff members to help students fill out college applications. There were also computers available to print out transcripts, giving students the resources needed to get going on a path of transferring.
It can be difficult having to fill out a college transfer application independently but BC kindly hosts transfer day events to take students through a step-by-step process of getting through it.
