Bakersfield College students attended the Condors hockey game this Saturday on April 20 for Bakersfield College Night.
This game was not an ordinary game as it marked the end of the 2023-24 season for the Condors and it was announced by the Condors officials that it would also be captain Brad Malone’s final game before retiring.
After the announcement the game and the fun began.
Carter Savoie wearing jersey number 48, was the first of the night to score and gave the Condors a one-goal advantage with only 9 minutes and two seconds left in the first period.
The Knights did not give up as they also wanted to win. Mason GS wearing the number 4 jersey, scored the goal that would put the score at 1 to 1, this taking the lead away from the Condors.
Hope arose again as Cam Dineen arrived and scored another goal for the Condors, giving the Condors a one-ball lead. It looked like the Knights would finish the first period with a one-point deficit.
However, the Knights were not far behind and scored a goal almost to end the first score; when suddenly in the last-minute number 16, Max Wanner, scored the third goal, and thus closed the first score with a flourish; and the Condors having a one goal advantage.
Before finishing the second score, the Condors would score another goal in favor of the Condors, thus closing the second score with a one-point advantage, Condors 4 Caballeros 3.
As the third period commenced the final score, starting with the score with the Condors winning.
This last score was one of the most exciting, neither team wanted to give up for sale, both wanted to achieve that victory for their team, each one gave everything to score another point for their team and the Knights being one point behind.
At 8 minutes into the game, team captain Brad Malone’s scored the last goal of the night and of his career giving the Condors a 5-3 victory over the Knights to wrap up their season.
