Ready to bring your education to the next level? Bakersfield College hosted multiple financial aid workshops to help students get the right information and assistance they need to pursue the next step of their academic journey for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 courses. The workshop took place on Monday, March 31, at the Panorama BC campus.
Financial Aid assistant, Esta Avala, aims to help students, like herself, receive the best kind of support. for them to proceed onto the next chapter by answering any questions students may have and set up their plan to the best of its abilities. Avala mentions that an important thing students should get done is to file your taxes because that’s what you need for FAFSA forms. She highlighted that it is crucial to stay updated on your financial aid status to make sure your application has been fully processed.
Financial Aid is essential for students planning to attend college and it also requires several steps to get started on the process to achieve future education. With the help of BC supporting students with assistance on filling out their FAFSA forms, it makes the process easier for students compared to students completing forms alone and unsure.
BC helps students to submit forms to avoid any possible future issues in paperwork.
Avala states, “A tip I would give to students is to pass your classes because if not you can get suspended from financial aid making it harder to enroll in schools and you won’t receive any money for the upcoming semester. Unless you make an appeal for any reason why you didn’t get financial aid.”
If students are struggling with classes that can risk their chances of receiving aid, it is highly recommended for students to reach out to their counselors. It is also encouraged to attend free tutoring sessions that are provided at Bakersfield College with nearly every subject so students can exceed their courses. For more information about tutoring services, locations, and hours, are provided on the Bakersfield College website in the ‘Tutoring Center’ section.
BC also provides a writing center located on the Panorama campus in the Student Services Building (133) for any students struggling on writing assignments. More information can be contacted at 661-395-4735 to keep students on the right path for academic greatness.
