The Empty Space’s production of “The Vagina Monologues” is rich in color and provocative language, but the true theme of the play is very simple in design: A woman perched upon a stool reveals personal insight on what a vagina means to her. Characters in the play range in age, ethnicity, appearance and perspective. This production deals with issues including feminism and women, sexuality, and the ultimate taboo of the vagina, and the lack of understanding the taboo of the idea of the vagina, and the lack of understanding by society.
