The young, old, rebellious and restless migrated to Stramler Park in support of the Rock Against Bush tour headlined by NOFX and supporting acts Alkaline Trio and Zero Authority on April 9.
The event was supported by a coalition of punk bands, musicians, and record labels called Punk Voter touring across the country to educate, register, and mobilize progressive voters. Between sets volunteers registered voters, handed out leaflets, and screened scenes from “Uncovered: The Whole Truth About The Iraq War” , a documentary that tells the story of how truth became the first American casualty in Iraq.
The valiant effort to raise political awareness was vocalized by Fat Mike of NOFX and included spoken word by ex-lead singer of Dead Kennedy’s and outspoken political and social activist Jello Biafra. His words of street rebellion and caustic criticism of the Bush administration and the Iraq war were not lost on anyone except perhaps the Metal Mullisha fanatics staring in ignorant shock and disbelief. As Biafra publicly questioned U.S authority the minds of the fanatics being blown were drowned out by roars approval.
