Now that we are in a huge budget deficit, it is becoming increasingly difficult to remember the good times of the Clinton administration. The days when the U.S. had a surplus and we weren’t in any major wars.
Bush, as with most Republican presidents we have had in the past, has the mentality of spend, spend, spend.
A Washington Post article by Jonathan Weisman and Peter Baker, said, “Even if Bush succeeds in slashing the deficit in half in four years, as he has pledged, his major policy prescriptions would leave his successor with massive financial commitments that begin rising dramatically the year he relinquishes the White House, according to an analysis of new budget figures.”
Bush isn’t looking out for the future of America, he is putting America deeper in the hole, as he was when we went to war for no reason in Iraq, costing Americans more in tax dollars and soldiers’ lives, now totaled at 1,500, for what? Weapons of mass destruction that were never found?
Even Republicans such as Sen. John McCain are criticizing Bush’s economic plans, according to the Post article.
John Weaver, a McCain adviser is quoted in the article as saying, “Hopefully some very difficult decisions will be addressed between now and the time we have a new White House resident so that occupant isn’t faced with some very expensive chickens coming home to roost.”
The same article states that over time, Bush’s tax cuts, the Medicare prescription drug benefit and, if it passes, his plan to redesign Social Security will cost $675 billion over five years of time.
The next president elected is going to have a long four years in the White House if Bush doesn’t change his evil ways.
