Thought control in procedurally democratic societies, such as America, is an evolving science, and the people who practice it are masters in influencing the public mind. From the invention of “romantic love” for the masses or making the pacifist general population bloodthirsty for war, the spectrum of human concern is entrenched with an industry that tries to sell you everything from toothpaste to poisons to presidents.
Part of this formula is to rewrite history. For instance, do you know that many of the people in the current administration were behind-the-scenes supporters of Saddam Hussein in the Reagan Administration? Probably not, and that is very interesting.
If you take a closer look at Japan’s offers of compromise shortly before World War II, you realize Imperial Japan had much more reason to attack the military colony of Pearl Harbor pre-emptively than Imperial U.S. had to attack Iraq and its innocent civilians.
U.S.-led sanctions against Iraq, which killed thousands of Iraqis including children, are actions that aren’t reported in mainstream media. If they were, we would have to make a real moral decision for once. Do we apply the same standard to ourselves as we do to others?
If we believe we are stopping a greater evil by invading Iraq, at the cost of tens of thousands of innocent lives, how can we honestly say a terrorist organization acting on the moral belief that American support for tyrannical governments is destroying their countries, is in the wrong when they attack headquarters for these policies in the U.S.? To me, the terrorist attacks were heinous but certainly understandable.
Does that mean I want therapy for terrorists? Hardly. But as a citizen, I would demand that we recognize that America is the leading terrorist nation and supporter of corrupt governments. America is recognized as such by the World Court, but that is another thing you will never hear.
America is the greatest country in the world by certain standards, and the greatest threat to humanity in others. At the same time it is also massively responsible for financial support of corrupt governments and dictators who serve its interests.
We as a citizen and intellectual class should probably be ashamed of ourselves when compared to the efforts by those in tyrannical countries who put their lives on the line in order to fight the repressive policies of their governments.
Hermann Goering, the Nazi leader, said, “The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.”
All of this combines to create what I believe is a very complex form of organized crime against humanity. The power of American government is illegitimate in comparison with the basic morality of a nation that would claim any sense of adherence to the fundamental belief in human rights
I believe the progresses in humanity have been its successive rebellions against the institutions that would strangle them, in successive stages. Our revolutions against the natural world, organized religion, governments, and finally the people themselves are what made us less primate and more human.
