Students and parents all over the world are struggling to fill out the new Financial Aid form. It was said to be made shorter and easier but has made it harder for some to fill out.
The new financial aid form was introduced late last year. It was said to be shortened and promised to make the application process simpler and more manageable. While it did get rid of a lot of questions deemed unnecessary, the complete set up has changed. The new form has required parents to need their own account and has many other changes. Melissa Castro a parent of college students claims the new form is “too different and a long process.” Parents like Castro are getting fed up with the changes that were made.
The new form made it difficult for students and parents to complete. I, myself have struggled to complete the new form. I have made 6 attempts to access the form and have only succeeded once. The website has been unavailable to some students claiming they are working to fix it. Although, if you use a different web browser you can have better luck.
Bakersfield college counselor and advisor Manuel Rosas has not had the chance to see the new form but can already tell it he will not like it. In his words he, “doesn’t like change” along with many other students.
It seems like multiple difficulties have presented themselves. College student Antonio Garcia expresses his annoyance for the new form saying, “it was way too long and overly complicated.” Garcia has struggled along with many other students, getting inconsistent promptings that make it harder to fill out the new form. There have been a lot of questions going unanswered while students battle with this new form.
It has come to the point where students have put off filling out this form. Students are getting beyond frustrated with the problems that come along with this new form. This change was supposed to be for the better but doesn’t seem like it.
