“The Lilies of the Field” is the newest play from the BC Theater Department and is the directorial debut of student Logan Scott.
The play revolves around a man named Homer Smith who stumbles upon a farm run by some nuns, then through a series of events Homer promises to build them a chapel for them to practice their religion.
The acting in this play was phenomenal and definitely the best part of the whole production. Lead actors Boluwatife Olajide-Bosunde and Cristina Goyenence, who play Homer Smith and Mother Superior, were able to give an incredible performance beside each other which carried the whole play. Olajide-Bosunde was able to play his character so well that audience was fully immersed and seemed to forget that they were even watching a play. Goyeneche’s acting was amazing as well and was able to pull on the heartstrings of the audience with the strong emotions that she brought to the stage.
The production of the play felt very personal and dear to all of the cast members involved. You could tell that every single person put their full effort into making this play the best it could be.
Due to the love and passion put into the production the team was able to create something great and beautiful and is something that every BC student should try to see if they can.
