Singer and songwriter Billie Eilish released her hottest newest music video for her hit song ‘Birds of a Feather’ on Sept. 27 leaving many fans with a mix of emotions.
Eilish is known for creating music videos that bring amazing visuals and feelings into action. However, fans were surprised when ‘Birds of a Feather’ was released due to its minimalistic visuals.
The music video starts with flashes and clips of an old office and when the track starts Eilish is sitting in the middle of an empty office staring directly into the camera. She is then being pulled into different directions of the office by what seems to be an invisible person.
As Eilish gets to the bridge of the song we see Eilish getting dragged across the room and right before the beat drops, she sings, “I’ll love you ‘til the day that I die,” right before she is slammed into the wall. Leading her to the next office room. Throughout the music video we see her being levitated and dragged across floors and walls.
Eilish’s music video symbolizes her lyrics perfectly. The song itself focuses on unconditional love. The bond between two people is so strong that they can’t live without each other. It expresses the desire for a lifelong relationship and are willing to go through everything together regardless of time.
In her music video it is portrayed beautifully metaphorically. The images of her going through walls can represent the challenges a relationship faces and how at the end they can overcome said barriers. At the end of the video and throughout the video Eilish is seen laying on the floor and being thrown through walls which symbolize the rollercoaster of emotions in relationships and the point of this music video.
While many fans have been vocal about this music video not being what they expected. Fans have taken to social media how the video doesn’t match to the upbeat tone of the song. Eilish’s music video proves the opposite. It proves how complex, empowering, and overall, how intense love truly is.
