Throughout most of 2021, Marvel Studios has teased the newest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, released on Dec. 17, 2021. With trailers showing multiple villains from older franchises returning, as well as numerous fan theories surfacing all over the web, this has become one of the most hyped movies of the entire year. With vast amounts of excitement for what will take place throughout this movie, there was also a great amount of hesitancy to raise hopes for this film, in fear that it won’t live up to expectations. However, this movie completely exceeds expectations and should be hailed as the best MCU film of all time; definitely, one of the best superhero films ever made.

After the events of “Spider-Man: Far From Home” Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is revealed to be Spider-Man in a video uploaded by evil villain Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) during his last moments. Now, both on the run from the law and from all of the people who think he is a menace to society, Peter has to figure out a way to adjust to this new life, as well as protect those closest to him, including his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya) and his best friend, Ned (Jacob Batalon).

To try and make it easier on his friends and those closest to him, Peter approaches Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to try and cast a spell to make everyone forget that he is the famous superhero. However, when Peter keeps trying to change the spell, he creates an entirely different spell causing great consequences. They are ultimately unsuccessful, as some of the villains from the alternate universes are able to come into his world, including Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Electro (Jamie Foxx), and many more unwanted visitors. It is now up to Peter and his friends to stop the multiverse from happening, and send all of the villains back home in this action packed superhero film.

This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, picking up speed right from the get go with crazy twists within the plot. The movie never slows down, but at the same time, doesn’t feel rushed, with pacing that’s perfect for a movie of this magnitude. It is one of the most entertaining superhero movies we have received in a long time, and it feels like the two and a half hours passed by so quickly.

At the same time, the movie is able to surprise the fans with every new twist. The viewer isn’t able to expect what is going to happen next, which is crucial for a film like this. This movie has been so hyped up that the fact that the movie still keeps the viewers drawn in and interested is a massive feat.

This film does an excellent job focusing on the character development, especially with Peter and his friends growing throughout the movie, as they learn from their mistakes and move forward. At the same time, the chemistry between all of our lead actors is spot on, and gives off such a great vibe that lasts throughout the entire movie.

The villains in this film are more than exceptional as well; it’s amazing being able to see all of them from the last twenty years get combined into one huge movie together. The actors that play all of them never lost their charm from many years ago, and they portray their characters in such a magnificent way.

The cinematography present in this film was satisfying to see for the longtime “Spider-Man” fans, who were able to witness the many shots and scenes that were only dreamt of. With the audience’s reactions being so great, it gave memoires of the reactions from the revelations in “Avengers: Endgame”.

This movie surpasses the expectations that fans had going in. It gives the fans everything they have been waiting for, and then some. The fact that Marvel was able to connect all of these films, both old and new, together was fantastic and it was beautifully done. It seemed impossible that the fanbase would be pleased with the final product of the film, but the filmmakers were able to deliver in every possible way, which is why this film is a modern masterpiece. The MCU really has something special on their hands after the release of this movie, and it was able to deliver what it promised in the trailer. Let’s hope Marvel is able to deliver more films like this one, and hopefully with the same playful and fun cast and storyline in future films.
