If you are looking for delicious soups, juicy burgers, refreshing agua fresca, and more than Locale Fark To Table Eatery is for you. Located on 18th Street, this woman-owned lunch spot offers American lunch options with a twist. All the food uses locally grown-in-season ingredients by names such as Kern Honey, Hya Farms, And even the Brimhall & Haggin Oaks Farmers Market.
I had ordered the loaded baked potato soup, the “Bacon + Fig” burger, The turkey and bacon melt, a daily agua fresca, and truffle garlic confit.
The decedent garlic confit was well-balanced and just downright delightful. The whipped chevre cheese’s light sweet flavor highlights the robust garlic for a buttery sensation.
The leek and potato soup were an obvious crowd-pleaser. This full-bodied soup is thick and comforting. With crunchy bacon, silky cheese, and a soup that is the perfect consistency I’d come back for.
The turkey and bacon melt, which is filled with a decent amount of turkey, bacon, and a crisp tomato, is a great lunch item as you also have the option of doing a half portion with soup. The one thing that puts this sandwich over the end is its Chipotle ranch. This ranch is a peppery kick to the senses and even better with the buttery sourdough, the house-brined turkey proved to be nothing less than flavorful and moist.
The “Bacon + Fig” burger was a flavorful wonderland on two brioche buns. The piled-on fresh greens, moist thick patty, chevre, provolone, caramelized onions, and fig chutney are tasty and filling as the fries it also came with are lightly seasoned. This burger was ordered with the fried egg on top and if you want an extra decadent velvety food option then the egg is a must.
The meal wouldn’t be complete without their daily made Fresca! The Fresca I tasted was a berry citrus blend, this blend was so refreshing especially because the tart flavor of the berries with the sweetness of the orange makes for a light and gentle zing.
All in all, if you are looking for a simple brunch spot or just want to taste the local flavors of Kern County the Locale Farm to Table is a great place to get your grub on.
