For all my dog lovers out there, Lionsgate’s newly released movie “Arthur the King” is the right amount of action and adventure for you. This movie is based on a true story and will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.
This movie follows Mikael Light played by Mark Wahlberg as he attempts an epic endurance race for the second time. He first tried this Adventure Racing World Championship in 2013 and could not complete it because of his ego.
Two years later in 2015, he is still training, and his wife motivates him to attempt the race again, and he is driven to chase his dream and finish in first place. This could very well be his last race before hanging up his running shoes.
Light is determined to finish first but because of his stubbornness and need to win in past races sponsors are hesitant to trust him.
The racing championship takes place in the Dominican Republic over ten days in which the competitors must travel 435 miles by running, hiking, biking, climbing, and kayaking. There is risk and danger on every corner but when a friendly companion finds Mikael and his team nearly saving their lives there is hope.
They take this street dog as a new member a part of their crew. The stakes were high not just for Mikael but his whole team
While most of the characters did not have much depth to them, the relationship between Arthur and Mickael carried the movie.
While the movie had a bumpy start stay till the end and you can see the real dog and family that the movie is based on. Dog movies are always heartfelt stories and this was no exception.
Many people were emotionally touched by the movie, even costar Simu Lui ended up adopting a dog that was an extra in the movie.
Some might think this is a standard underdog movie that is based on a true story, but it is a whole paw more than that.
