Caveman Studios, the creators of the game “Contractor$,” have made another “Call-of-Duty” style virtual reality (VR) game. This time, they have taken “Warzone” and implemented their own ideas to create an amazing VR game. The game is titled “Contractor$: Showdown” and is the best VR battle royale.
Compared to the other battle royale, “Population 1” serves its time as a breath of fresh air for a more realistic and hardcore experience. “Population 1” is sillier and more fun with healing items being bananas and sodas, while “Contractor$: Showdown” is more realistic. The core mechanics of “Contractor$” is here with the jumping, sliding, and sprinting being the main movement mechanics. All new movement opportunities are added with the parachute and offer a fast-paced gameplay option. The style of movement is like the flat-screen game “Warzone.”
Some may say that “Contractor$: Showdown” is a copy paste “Warzone,” but the main thing it shares with it is the money system. Money is dropped on the ground as a loot item and can be spent at specific types of stations. Buy stations in “Contractor$: Showdown” are split into different types, red for weapons and ammo, blue for insurance, and purple for upgrades and utility. Insurance recovers players if they are eliminated and gives them items based on their tier. The utility options in game are items such as a cluster of bombs and radar scans.
The weapons in game are the basic weapons one would find in any shooter. With customizable attachments and unlockable skins. The snipers in this game are possibly the best snipers in VR. They feel amazing to shoot and landing headshots is satisfying. With the smoothing of the sights not being too harsh and the overall feel of the weapons feeling snappy and responsive, it proves to be one of the best feeling VR shooters on the market.
With the amazing gunplay and systems, the map is very unique. Areas like the nuclear silos and the black market are very immersive and feel amazing to fight in. Caveman Studios clearly put effort into planning out the points of interest to feel realistic and immersive while still having them being balanced and fun to fight in.
The overall gameplay of “Contractor$: Showdown” is amazing and feels great to play. Its snappy controls and unique gunplay are something that has been noticed by VR and battle royale players all over. With the game exiting beta soon, “Contractor$: Showdown” proved to be one of VR’s best games.
