Entering a raffle on Nintendo’s website for the slim chance that me and my family get to go play on the Switch 2 before release, has led to almost everyone (my father just didn’t care) in the group wanting to buy it as soon as possible.
The Switch 2 will include many of the same things that the original Switch had as well. Included in these aspects would be the handheld capabilities making it excellent for travel. The screen is a bit larger and the graphics are very crisp and clean.
There’s a nice weight to the console, it’s heavy enough to feel sturdy but not to heavy to make it uncomfortable to hold. As someone who has smaller hands it also doesn’t feel like it’s to big to hold.
The joycons have a magnetic system to keep them on meaning they click into the Switch 2 instead of sliding. To remove the joycons there is a release button making them pretty sturdy so they don’t just pop off.
A new addition to the joycons would be the mouse function. This allows players to use their controls as if they were a computer mouse for certain games.
There will be a new addition to the console, an external camera. This camera will assist in being used in their voice and video chat software. Aswell as being used in games like “Mario Party.”
When testing the game “Civilization VIII” the joycons were being used as a mouse. It gave the game a really nice feel and gave the player a lot of control. In fact, it felt a lot like playing on a computer.
The Switch 2 will have a subscription services available upon relies that will include games from the GameCube. These games will be exclusive to the Switch 2 and not available on the original Switch.
There will be a bundle for the Switch 2 being sold for a limited time, through fall 2025. This bundle will include “Mario Kart World.” This new addition to the “Mario Kart” games will have a larger player limit and is an open world-like game.
Base price for just the console will be approximately $449.99 and the bundle will be approximately 499.99, though prices may change, according to Nintendo’s website.
Also stated from Nintendo’s website is that the console will be available for preorder April 24 and will be released June 5 of 2025.
Though the cost is a little much, I would still recommend it for those who enjoy playing games on a computer and those who enjoyed the original Switch.
