On a wing and a prayer the Bakersfield College men’s basketball team is going to play in the first round of the state regional playoffs.
The Renegades will get another shot to prove that they are better than their mediocre 15-16 overall record.
Even though BC lost three of the last four games, they showed some team character as they battled an unbeaten conference foe, Los Angeles Valley, to the last shot of the game. The Monarchs sank a 3-point with three seconds to go to beat the ‘Gades, 71-68.
With a 6-6 record in the Western State Conference Southern Division, the ‘Gades managed to finish in fourth place, which was good enough to solidify a berth in the playoff.
BC will be on the road the first round as they will take on a tough San Bernardino team that is highly seeded in the tournament.
Game time will be 7 p.m.
