We are currently at the peak of sports seasons. Basketball playoffs and baseball games are only a click away.
A great number of people, including myself, are glued to the television watching any sporting event they can.
I know what you’re thinking… a girl who watches sports?
Yes, believe it or not I watch sports and it’s not because my boyfriend forces me to or because I want to relate to guys, but solely because I love sports.
Watching sports is one thing, but it is unfair for guys to stereotype women as being clueless when it comes to sports.
Now don’t get me wrong. If you are a girl and absolutely not interested in anything about sports, then you are forgiven for being clueless.
Nonetheless, guys shouldn’t have the right to put down girls if we know nothing about sports.
Not every girl is sitting in front of the television watching a sporting event twirling her hair asking technical questions. Um…what is a HR? How many points is every shot worth?
Guess what? I know what these terms mean, and therefore I am completely convinced that girls are fully capable of watching any sporting event without any difficulty.
If you still don’t believe me, I will try and prove it to you. Here are some of my top picks for the basketball playoffs.
In the Eastern conference, I predict a two-way race between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics. This series will be interesting to watch because the Celtics are looking unstoppable with key players like Raef LaFrentz, Gary Payton, Antoine Walker and Ricky Davis. Just ask the Indiana Pacers. They couldn’t stop the Celtics in game 1. LaFrentz led Boston with 21 points while Payton scored 14 points in game 1 against Pacers.
Miami will advance over New Jersey with key players like Shaquille O’Neal, Dwyane Wade and Damon Jones. Regardless of New Jersey’s attempt to limit O’Neal’s scoring, Wade scored 32 points while Jones scored seven 3-pointers in game 1.
Miami will press forward toward the final championship game.
In the Western Conference, I predict a two-way race between the Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns.
Houston will advance easily over Dallas with assistance from Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. McGrady scored 34 points in game 1. But there will be strong resistance from Phoenix.
Shawn Marion scored 26 points, Quentin Richardson scored 22 points, Steve Hunter scored16 points and Steve Nash scored 11 points against Memphis Grizzlies in game 1.
Nevertheless, Houston will advance to the final championship game.
Let’s face it, Miami will win the championship and O’Neal will once again add to his ring collection. The Los Angeles Lakers will then face the biggest mistake they ever made trading “The Diesel.”
