OK all you Renegade football fans and single parents.
The Bakersfield College football team is having a great season and is giving away free tickets to this year’s homecoming game scheduled for Nov. 5.
Being a single parent and a college student can make it financially difficult to take your little ones out too often, so I am giving you the heads up early. Start collecting your Bud cans.
Between free football tickets and free parking, all you need to come up with $3 for gas, that is unless we have our gas prices go up again. In addition, $14 gets you two hot dogs, two nachos, and two large sodas. If you can’t drink that much, try the 99 cents store down the block.
Now on a serious note. All you single moms or dads (just kidding about the Bud cans), it’s time to step up to the plate and spend some time with your little ones.
The Renegades, after their 24-23 loss to Canyons on Saturday, have a conference record of 2-1 and appear to be one of the tougher teams in the Western State Conference.
Why is admission free for the Nov. 5 game? Memorial Stadium, which seats 19,000, is the largest community college stadium in the state and has been in existence for 50 years. It is the administration’s goal to fill the stadium against Ventura.
Football is often a character builder for children, so parents, make sure you make it to the game. Those little future Bakersfield College students will have a great time with you. I guarantee you a few of the little ones will be on that field in the near future.
Even if you’re not a single parent, all of you BC students will have a great experience.
Tickets to the general public may be picked up Monday through Thursday starting Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the stadium ticket booths located off Mt. Vernon Avenue. BC staff and students may also pick up tickets at the ticket office located in business services office next to the BC bookstore during normal business hours starting Oct. 10.
See you at the game Nov. 5.
