The Bakersfield College women’s softball team won all four games this weekend at the College of Sequoia tournament in Visalia. The Renegades’ first victory was against West Hills on Saturday morning, and then they defeated City College of San Francisco. Both scores were 8-0.
“Sunday, two extra inning games showed a lot of heart on our part,” said softball coach Sandi Taylor. “It was a good week for us last week. We had eight games on the road and came out winning six.”
The Renegade defense was very strong with no errors in the first three games behind pitcher Kory Marko, now 8-3 with a 1.14 ERA for the year. The Renegades shut out Ohlone College in game one on Sunday when the Renegades were able to score the winning run in the ninth inning.
The game at the end of the first inning appeared to be an easy victory for College of the Sequoias. However, the Renegades came back with two runs in the second inning.
In the eighth inning, Rachele Flores moved to third base after a sacrifice bunt by Heather Spoon. Flores then scored on an RBI single to right center by Natalie Martinez giving the Renegades an 8-4 victory.
The Renegades play today at home against Ventura College at 5 p.m.
