Director of Athletics Jan Stuebbe has been out since the beginning of the semester and is said to be returning in February.
According to the Associate Director of Athletics Sandi Taylor, Stuebbe should be back within the month.
“He’s out on medical leave,” said Taylor. “He should be back in mid-February, that’s the hope.”
Taylor is taking over responsibilities for Stuebbe in his absence. When asked if taking on extra duties right at the beginning of the softball season would be a problem, Taylor spoke openly.
“I’m just helping out,” said Taylor. “No. No it doesn’t have any effect on me or the team.”
Also in the sports department, men’s and women’s golf coach Larry Cook is being replaced for personal reasons. According to Taylor, Cook’s replacement will be Bill Kalivas on an interim basis. Kalivas is the Renegade wrestling coach.
Taylor talked about Cook’s departure.
“It’s a personal issue, and I can’t say anything else about it,” said Taylor.
When contacted, Cook hesitated but went on to talk about his absence.
Cook was asked if he is the current coach and he replied with, “Yes. As of now I am.” Cook spoke about being away from the golf team and when he expects to be back.
“It’s temporary for now. It hasn’t been decided when I will return.”
