Two-time defending state champion Mount San Antonio College defeated Bakersfield College 41-27; this is the fourth time in three years the Renegades have fallen at the hands of the Mounties.
The game went back and forth between the two teams, until the fourth quarter, when the Mounties took over, scoring the quarter’s only 14 points.
Mt. Sac converted 12-of-18 third downs, and put up more than 400 yards on offense.
Jeff Chudy, BC’s head coach and defensive coordinator, was disappointed with how his defense, “regressed,” since their last game.
“Some of [our problems] were mental mistakes that you can’t have,” said Chudy. “And some of it was a lack of confidence, I think, for whatever reason.”
The team is now 3-2, and will start conference play in two weeks against Allen Hancock College after a bye week.
