Track and Field is on its way and Bakersfield College has a young group coming in this year.

Bakersfield College track and field coach Dave Frickel gave his thoughts on the upcoming year.

“We’ve got good numbers this year with 29 men and 25 women and two-thirds of them are new on the team,” said Frickel.

“I like their work attitude how they’ve worked really hard at practice, I feel we will be pretty good. The one thing that might cause us some problems would be just the inexperience of the freshmen because it takes some time to get used to the college level competition,” he said.

He added that the first two meets are low-level competition and that they won’t know exactly where they will be at until the meet on Feb. 17.

“We got a good group this year and we’re hoping it’s a year of achievement and excellence.”
