BC football wins homecoming against East LA College

The Renegade Football team played against East LA College in a furious homecoming game with the game being called early in the fourth quarter and Bakersfield College leaving with a great win 58-17.

The first quarter of the game, East LA scores the first touchdown and shortly after player Chance Cooper and Elisha Ortiz score and the Renegades recover with the score of 14-7. East LA scores another touchdown. Towards the end of the first half, Jacob Irby connects a touchdown pass with Shane Jones with the score of 24-14.

At halftime, the 1988 Junior High College National Champion football team was honored for the thirty-year anniversary of their 11-0 season. About forty players and the coaches of the 1988 team came to the game. The audience also had many past renegade alumni supporting the renegades.

 

For the third quarter, many fouls and penalties from both teams were made making the third quarter seem like it would never end. Bakersfield college scored twenty-eight points with two touchdowns coming from Elisha Ortiz, one coming from Isaiah Martin and one from Cam Roberson with an eighty- yard return. It seemed for every touchdown the Renegades scored, East LA became more aggressive causing foul plays. Multiple players from both teams were ejected from the game during the third and fourth quarter with a total of 8 ejections. Isaiah Martin scored the final touchdown with the final score of 58-17.

However, right after the final touchdown, both teams started to fight with extreme physical contact with an East LA player biting number sixty-five Blane Brown’s finger and many punches were thrown making police officers step on the field and controlling the situation. Both team leaders agreed to call the game, with thirteen minutes still left in the fourth quarter, for player safety.

Overall, the Renegades showed dominance with offensive possession throughout the entire game.

The BC Football team now stands 5-3 in the season. With only 2 games left in the season, the Renegades will continue to display their hard work and determination.
