The BC Renegades Softball team loses against San Mateo with a score of 9-0, on Jan. 24.

The game started off slow in the first inning with no runs, but in the second inning Mateo scored one run and kept on with their strategy.

In an interview with sophomore Alexandrea Venegeas (12) she talks about how the team went into the game more focused which helped the Renegades to work better together offensively and defensively. When she was asked what this loss means for the team she responded, “This loss just shows us what we need to work on for the coming up week”. She believes that BC will move forward more confidently as the games go on.

San Mateo’s runs quickly increased as the game went on, but the Renegades kept their momentum throughout the game. The Renegades went into this game with little confidence, but they believed that they played well overall as a team.

San Mateo quickly took the lead leaving the Renegades struggling to catch up. Freshman Sydney Barnes (24) pitched for the entirety of the game, but it wasn’t enough to keep San Mateo from scoring. There were many walks due to “wild pitches” according to the recap on BC Athletics Website.

After this loss, the Renegades starting record is 0 wins and 2 losses.
