The Bakersfield College women’s soccer team suffered a tough loss in their home game against Ventura College by a score of 5-1 amid a hot and dry afternoon on Sept. 20.
The game started very promising for Bakersfield College, as with just 5th minutes of play, Melody Christian (11) arrived and scored the first goal in favor of the Renegades.
Two minutes later Valeria Lopez (5) would arrive and score the first goal in favor of Ventura, now the score was 1-1.
At minute 21 we will have a corner kick from Moreno with which Leslie Torres (4) would score the third goal in favor of Ventura College.
BC finished the first half with some momentum as they had a couple of shot attempts that would be saved by Sibella Donnelly just before halftime.
Thus began the second half where for almost 45 minutes we did not have any goals from either team but in the 50th minute Lex Sahagian (11) would arrive and score a goal in favor of Ventura College thus putting one more goal in favor of the Ventura Pirates.
When there were only two minutes left for the match to end, Monse Hernandez (8) would arrive and score the last goal in favor of the match and the last goal in favor of Ventura.
Despite falling to Ventura, goalkeeper Mercedes Ramirez did an excellent job saving 11 attacks.
“I feel like we did amazing despite having five players less. We were at war today and we played the game hard, considering we had fewer substitutes for the injured players.” Jasmine Sandoval said. Despite this defeat, the renegades continue fighting and do not give up, they continue working to improve.
With the loss, the Renegades’ overall record moves to 3-2-1. The team will head to a pair of road games before returning home on Oct. 4 to begin conference play against LA Valley at 4:00 P.M.
