BC volleyball team took on Santa Monica on Oct. 4. Both teams took a good fight, but Santa Monica got the victory. The teams go on to five sets. It was an entertaining game that was constantly going back and forth.
There was no clear winner throughout the sets. Both teams were physical in defense and were battling to see who would take the win.
The game started off with high energy from both teams. Santa Monica started the game off very physical with their counterattacks. They started up the serve in the beginning, but BC took the win on their first match, 25-22.
The teams switched sides and the second match begun. Santa Monica was up on the second match, but BC was still fighting back to catch up. Santa Monica won the second set, 25-19 and third set 25-23.
The Renegades were fighting with their all in the fourth set. They were doing an amazing job defensively and offensively. Stevie Yursik (20) BC Volleyball outside hitter player, on the Renegades was an assist to that. She had 22 kills and 12 digs. She was giving it her all on the court. That helped with BC staying in the game and taking the win in the fourth set, with a score resulting in 25-20.
This made the sets with a tied score, BC and Santa Monica both lead up to two wins leading to the fifth and final set of the night. This set’s winner takes it all. The teams put it all on the court floor. BC had lots of momentum, but throughout the middle of the set the teams had to switch sides. Santa Monica was up throughout the set, but this did not worry BC because they still fought back and were trailing. Even with all the pressure BC was applying to Santa Monica, opposing team handled it and in the fifth set they took the win, with a score of 15-13. Leading BC to a tough loss but with a fight.
BC volleyball’s next game is an away game Oct. 9 the Canyons. Their next home game will be held on Oct.11 against Antelope Valley at 6 PM at the BC gym.
