BC women’s volleyball took the victory against Citrus College on the night of Oct. 18, winning with a score of 3-0 continuing their winning streak of 4.
Even before the game started, the team worked just as hard practicing as they did playing all 3 matches. This showed that they were confident and ready for what was to come. The excitement and readiness that gleamed from the volleyball court was well expressed through the team and through the crowd in the stands as well.
The starters for the first match were Lucely Para, Stevie Yursik, Sunnie Thomas, Carly Hayes, Chloe Comstock, Kamryn Briggs, and Amanda Zepeda. BC played hard to win all 3 matches with the sets of 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.
Outside Hitter, Kamryn Briggs led the start of the game, executing her role nicely. While BC started the match ravenously, Citrus was able to maintain a good stamina for themselves, keeping everyone on their toes. It was clear to see that both teams were eager to keep getting scores on the board.
Although the game kept going back and forth with many blocks, kills, and attacks from both teams, Outside Hitter, Stevie Yursik with 14 kills and 3 block assists, and Outside Hitter, Kamryn Briggs with 12 kills really stood out throughout the game.
BC really kept their momentum up and didn’t let Citrus intimidate them. Unfortunately, Yursik had gotten injured halfway through the game by trying to block the ball. She landed on her side and was unable to get up for a bit making her have to exit for some time.
Carly Hayes, Middle Blocker, contributed to many factors of the game as well by having a total of 36 digs, this shows the hard work she put in; not just for herself, but for the team. Overall, the game was well played amongst BC and Citrus College. It was definitely an unforgettable one because of how close each match was, but luckily, BC just pulled it off.
BC will continue their efforts of winning at a couple of away games then making their way back home for their game against the Canyon Cougars on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6 pm.
