Bakersfield College celebrated a homecoming victory with a score of 48-35 on Saturday, Oct. 19, against Allan Hancock.
The Renegades and Bulldogs were at a steady neck and neck at the homecoming game. There was a lot of energy in the stadium.
Allan Hancock was taking the lead in the first quarter with 14 points. BC scored 7.
It did not take long for BC to catch up. The Renegades were the only ones to have scored in the second quarter, evening out the score to be 14-14. The only interception in the game occurred in the second quarter by Allan Hancock.
Halftime kicked off with BC’s very own alumni cheerleaders. Bringing Halloween spirit, the cheerleaders danced to the beat of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” which also included stunts.
Other entertainment consisted of a friendly game of kids dressing up as football players and doing some football techniques as a race.
Starting off the second half, both teams exhibited much determination. There was a lot of back and forth between the teams. Plenty of good defense from both sides that intensified the game.
Beginning the second half with an even score, BC took the lead as they administered to score 20 points in the third quarter. This concluded the third quarter score to be 34-21.
Like most games, the ending is typically the most intense part. The crowd was chanting “Let’s go BC, let’s go!” The community was coming together to hype up the Renegades for the win.
Besides the chanting, the crowd rallied up together to do the wave multiple times. The crowd would also engage with each other as a floatie was being passed around the stadium.
There was one fumble by BC in the fourth quarter. Both teams scored 14 points in the final quarter.
Overall, there were 12 touchdowns in this game. The Renegades made home proud by scoring 7 touchdowns.
This game put BC back on a winning streak. There are only four games left in the season, two home and two away.
The next home game will be Saturday Nov. 2 at 6pm against Ventura. The final home game will be against Santa Barbara on Saturday Nov. 16 at 4pm.
