To wrap up the end of the regular season, BC women’s soccer achieved their last win with the final score of 1-0 on Nov. 15 against West LA.
BC was alert and ready to take on anything coming their way and dominated their offense. They took many shots to the goal during the first half but ultimately nothing made it in, at first, but this didn’t stop them from continuing to try.
West LA came close to scoring by a shot from Naomi Valtierra but luckily for BC, the goal was not able to be made. BC could have been discouraged; they could have been anything on the field, but it was only the first half of the game, and they were not ready to give up that easily.
Due to their many attempts of trying and not giving up, midfielder Alexandra Gallardo successfully scored an unassisted goal in the 18th minute putting BC ahead in the game.
Although BC’s offense was definitely a key point to the outcome of the game, their defensive tactics is what really helped them continue to keep the ball towards their side of the field and away from West LA.
During the second half it was evident that BC aggressively wanted to keep the lead in the game. BC out sh
ot West LA 13-4 and while West LA had 3 shots on target, BC had 12. Goalie Mercedes Ramirez contributed her willingness to win by making 3 saves to close out the game.
After the win, sophomore players; Melanie Medizabal, Emily Vincent, Alina Garcia, Brooklynn Tucker, Ashley Osorio, and Carrie Morones celebrated not only their win but their final regular season game as a Bakersfield College Renegade. They were given flowers as a gift to award their great accomplishment.
Altogether, BC women’s soccer had an awarding last game and the wait for playoffs is highly anticipated. As of right now there are little to no details about the playoff game but to stay tuned, go to www.gogades.com or @gogades on all social media platforms.
