BC men’s basketball team won their first home game scoring 62-59 against Barstow on Fri., Nov. 14.
The gym was full of support from friends, family, and staff. From chants to bleacher stomps, the game was full of crowd cooperation.
Both quarters were equally intense. The game was steady as both teams were neck and neck. When one team scored the other managed to catch up in no time.
Renegades managed to catch up quickly. In the 1st quarter BC was taking the lead with 30 points. Barstow concluded with 28 points.
The anticipation rolled over into the second quarter as Barstow was not far behind.
BC was on a roll by staying in the lead of the second quarter. It was after the middle of the second half that Bastow was able to catch up. The scores managed to stay tied.
#21 forward, Godwill Fomusoh had to step out of the game due to a cramp. The last minutes of the game were full of timeouts, fouls, and free throws.
Towards the end, both teams were depending on the fouls made. The crowd would stomp the bleachers when the opponent had a shot at free throws. BC won another quarter making the final score to be 62-59 against Barstow.
Fomusoh was able to return to the game and win on the court. “It is still hurting but it felt good to come back and play with the team,” he said.
This was the first basketball game at home for the men. Guard, #4 Carter Nwadeyi mentioned that this game was comfortable since they practice here about six times a week.
Gustavo Chavez #2, guard, talked about how this game was a battle. “It was a game of focus,” stated Chavez.
This was the 5th game of the season. The team won on Mon. against Lemoore. This game has put BC on a winning streak.
The next home game will be Tues., Nov. 19 against Santa Barbara @5pm. The final home game of the month will be on Wed., Nov. 27 @3pm against Victor Valley.
