BC Softball won 8-7 in a close game against Citrus College Owls on April 10 at 2:30 p.m. Alexia Martinez (13) started in the circle for BC. Citrus started strong earning a run from Owl (12) but that was all they managed to get. BC was stopped before they could take that run back in the first inning.
Second inning, BC defense retired the side to enter the bottom half where BC took the lead. Sadie Salas (1) got a double, bringing two runs in before Citrus got the third out. The score was now 2-1. Citrus’s (12) got a double bringing in (00) as well as (25) got a single which brought in (12). Entering the bottom half of the third, BC was unable to earn back those two runs as Citrus retired the side in a quick inning.

The fourth inning was simple to play as BC defense was not allowing anymore runs, and now eager to bat. BC had the inning they were looking for. Salas hit another double bringing in another run. Salas shared when entering the batter’s box, “It’s all the confidence I have left in me. I knew I had to do my job and luckily, I came through.”
Brylee Bramhall (11) also hit a double, earning two more runs for BC. Strong inning scoring 6 runs, the score was now 8-3. Citrus’s 3rd baseman (4) was able to get one run back by hitting a homerun. Martinez immediately stopped Citrus’s rally ending the top half of the fifth. Citrus’s pitcher (16) did not want BC to get away further, ending the inning with no damage done.

Sixth inning gave Citrus some light as they scored three runs with a few singles and walks. Citrus’s batters then flew out allowing BC to get the three outs making the score now 8-7 going into the bottom of the sixth. BC’s middle lineup grounded out having two outs already. Isabella Rodriguez (12) broke the patterned getting a walk but was left on base ending the inning.
The seventh inning had a similar cycle to the previous inning for BC, getting two outs with Citrus player (12) getting a walk. She was also left on base with the next batter striking out. This win added to BC’s 6 game winning streak. The team is now preparing to travel for their final games of the season.
