Wylie and Mary Louise Jones Gallery hosted the 2025 Panorama Invitational on Feb 6. An array of local high school artistic talent was on display for a lively audience. This two-hour event attracted a diverse audience of educators, students, and proud parents. Paintings and sculptures reflected the promising talent produced here in Bakersfield, as they not only drew an audience but completely captivated them with the sheer brilliance that radiated in such works.
The audience was fantastic, people mingled and chatted about the different art pieces made by high school students. The event provided a space and opportunity for parents and their children to bond. The parents stood with pride as they took pictures of their children next to their prized pieces. Teachers eagerly and joyfully explained the great lengths to which they watched their students go through to create them. It was an all-around great experience, with high school students coming to support their friends and BC students casually walking by and being interested. The place was crowded with excellence, creating a remarkable atmosphere to enjoy.
The students’ displays were captivating, giving the guests something to discuss and adore. They were incredibly diverse in many ways: the raw emotion you could feel in some and the happiness and lightheartedness in others, in combination with the witty names of the artwork and the unique sculptures in the room’s corners, kept the walk around the gallery consistently engaging. The gallery contained various artistic expressions, from cultural reflections to family appreciation, to abstract portraits and sculptures. This provided an opportunity for anyone and everyone to engage with the beauty of art.
Regarding attractions in the room, the event was paired with fulfilling refreshments that gave the impressive artistic displays some competition. The refreshments table was a must-stop, filled with delicious snacks to grab while enjoying the displays. The refreshments included a perfectly crafted charcuterie board, plenty of fruits, brownies, and cookies paired with water and lemonade. Which were all delicious
